We all want to know where we can find someone who is good at what they do.

To find a good dental implant surgeon, you need to start by doing a bit of research. The internet is a really good place to find reviews and comments on dental surgeons and dentists around town. Places like Google Local, Yahoo Local, Yelp, Citysearch, Judy’s book are great places to get a glimpse at who you’ll be dealing with. There are many more, but those are just a few off the top of my head. Another great thing to do is ask around. Ask your friends, or the people you work with. There are a handful of dental implant surgeons available in your area, but what you need to do is find one that is best for you. Once you find a few names, give the office a call and talk to the front desk to get a feel of what the office may be like, stop in and take a look and ask for testimonials or even some pictures of what they can do for you.

A good dental implant surgeon will create a good reputation. You’ll know when a dental surgeon provides a high quality of work if there are numerous positive feedback from his own clients and other professionals he/she works with. Compare and contrast the different opinions and critiques you find from different sources and see which one will work for you. This is valuable information which you can use to make your final decision. The more information you can gather, the better. So ask as many people as you can and find out as much information online as well.

The best kind of information is the kind that is obtained on the spot. Asking around and searching on the internet alone will only get you so far and it may not guarantee that you will find the right doctor. As mentioned before, stopping in and seeing the office and staff will help tremendously. You can try to schedule an appointment with the Dr., but sometimes that goes along with a fee of some sort (instead, try stopping in if you have a few minutes just to look around). Go down the list of surgeons you chose and see which ones fit your need. When you come in for a meeting or appointment, check the forms that the office will make you fill out (some of these forms can be found online). You will want to read the fine print on the forms carefully to ensure that you get what you need and safeguard against unpleasant surprises. Ask questions to clarify anything in the forms that seem foreign to you.

When you finally meet your doctor, assess right away if you feel comfortable with them and the staff. You need to have good communication with your doctor and it is important that you feel secure enough to trust them with the health of your mouth. Take a look around the office and rooms to see if it is clean and orderly. How your surgeon’s office looks like is a reflection of how he/she works. Be specific when asking questions about fees, treatment, medication and what legal forms you will have to review and sign. Be clear on what you want and evaluate if they can give you the results you desire. If after your first consultation, you feel that the doctor is the right one for you then schedule the next appointment to start on any recommended treatment. Otherwise, move on to your second choice and hope that he/she will be a better choice. Remember, you will be spending a significant amount of money. You have the right to feel comfortable and enjoy your experience wherever you go.
