Lorenza Donnelly, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, earned her Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan (U-M) in Ann Arbor, graduating with Highest Distinction (summa cum laude) and High Honors. She continued at the U-M School of Dentistry, where she earned her dental degree (D.D.S.), finishing at the top of her class and being inducted into the OKU National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Donnelly completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC Health) and earned her medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine. Her residency included a general surgery internship and extensive training within the Department of Anesthesiology, equipping her to safely provide anesthesia for both adult and pediatric patients. At UNC, she trained with leaders in the field, including Dr. Timothy Turvey and Dr. George Blakey, and gained surgical expertise in areas such as orthognathic jaw surgery, surgical treatment of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), cleft and craniofacial surgery, management of oral and maxillofacial pathology, dental implants, dentoalveolar surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, and facial trauma surgery. During her residency, Dr. Donnelly also rotated at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, a level 2 trauma center, and the Durham VA Health Center. Her diverse training equipped her to care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Donnelly has published in peer-reviewed journals, won awards, and presented her work nationally. Her commitment to collaborative care led her to participate in the interdisciplinary Pediatric Rheumatology / TMJ and Pediatric Craniofacial clinics at UNC. She also worked closely alongside orthodontic, prosthodontic, and general practice residents within the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. She maintains active North Carolina medical and dental licenses.
Dr. Donnelly and her family fell in love with the Triangle during her residency and decided to make it their home. She currently resides in Chapel Hill, NC with her husband, Chris, their two daughters, and their dogs, a German Shepherd (Oban) and a husky (Mika).

Dr. Tomack was born and raised in Westchester, New York and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Delaware. He then went on to pursue his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the University of Pennsylvania. It was during this time that Dr. Tomack found his passion for the specialty of Periodontics. Subsequently, Dr. Tomack pursued a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) degree in oral biology and a certificate in Periodontics from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While at Harvard, Dr. Tomack served as chief resident. He also performed extensive research evaluating new risk factors for gum recession around natural teeth using novel methodology (dental ultrasonography and 3D surface defect mapping). Dr. Tomack enjoys creating long lasting relationships with patients and is eager to provide the best care possible.
In his free time, Dr. Tomack enjoys cooking and trying out new restaurants. He also loves to spend time outdoors exploring new beaches and hiking trails. Dr. Tomack has been on several mission trips to Lima and Cusco, Peru and plans on returning soon to provide additional dental care.
