About Anesthesia

It is completely normal for many patients to feel anxious and nervous before a surgical procedure. The staff at Nu Image want to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible. That is why we offer options for sedation when you undergo a dental procedure with us. The sedation method used depends on the preference of the patient and the nature of the procedure being considered.

At Nu Image Surgical, we offer general anesthesia and local anesthesia options for procedures. With general anesthesia, the anesthesia is administered through an intravenous (IV) line, suppressing your consciousness and allowing you to “sleep” during the procedure. Local anesthesia is a numbing injection that is applied directly to the surgical site. During local anesthesia, the patient is fully awake, but will not feel anything, due to the area being numb.

IV Sedation

Our offices offer patients the option of Intravenous (IV) Sedation, also referred to as general anesthesia, for your treatment. IV Sedation helps you to be comfortable and calm when undergoing procedures. It will enable you to be relaxed and tolerant as well as not remember those procedures that may be very uncomfortable for you. IV sedation will essentially help alleviate the anxiety associated with your treatment. All IV sedation is administered and monitored by a Nu Image Surgical doctor and/or nurse anesthesiologist.

Are Oral Surgeons Qualified To Administer Anesthesia?

All of the surgeons at Nu Image Surgical are highly trained to safely and effectively provide anesthesia in the hospital setting prior to entering into oral surgery practice. Their extensive experience includes administering anesthesia in the operating room, as well as in outpatient surgery centers to enhance overall patient care. They have received the highest level of licensure from the state of North Carolina to perform office based general anesthesia, which distinguishes them from the majority of general dentists.
